Kirsty grew up in and around Broken Hill. She attended Broken Hill High School through to year 9 and completed the last three years of schooling in Adelaide as a Boarder. After leaving school Kirsty completed a Bachelor of Nursing, through University of SA. On completion she decided that it wasn't for her and went dairy farming, for something different.
In 1995 just after getting married Kirsty and her husband Michael moved to the South East to help establish a new dairy farm. During this time she completed a certificate in On-Farm Training 2 and 3. After a short stint sharefarming in Mount Gambier, they returned to Naracoorte at the end of 1999 with their two young children. Kirsty spent the next eight and a half years running the office of a local business. After deciding she needed a new challenge Kirsty commenced study through TAFE. Since commencing at Murray Nankivell in June 2008 has completed her Certificate 3 in Financial Services and at the end of 2013 completed a Masters Degree in Professional Accounting.
