ATO Tax Agent Consolidation Update

In December, we advised that our Naracoorte and Murray Bridge Tax Agent Numbers will be consolidated into the Bordertown Tax Agent Number, as required by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

The ATO is expected to commence this consolidation shortly, with completion anticipated by 1 March 2026.

During this transition period, you may notice temporary changes in how you receive correspondence from the ATO. Once the consolidation is complete, we encourage you to review—and update if necessary—your ATO communication preferences to ensure they remain correct.

We will update this post once the consolidation has been finalised. Please check back after 1 March 2026 for confirmation.

How to Check or Update Your ATO Communication Preferences

Individuals / Sole Traders

If you have linked the ATO to your myGov account, you can review your communication preferences by:

  1. Signing in to myGov and selecting Australian Taxation Office from your linked services
  2. Selecting My profile on your ATO Online Services homepage
  3. Choosing Communication
  4. Selecting Preferences

Businesses (Non-individuals)

If you use Online Services for Business, you can check or update your preferences by:

  1. Signing in to Online Services for Business
  2. Selecting Communication
  3. Choosing Preferences

For more information, please refer to the ATO’s official guidance on communication preferences.

Do You Need to Take Any Action?

  • If you currently receive ATO correspondence through myGov (Individuals/Sole Traders) or Online Services for Business (Non-individuals), no changes are expected to be required.
  • If you also receive ATO messages via our SMS system, this will continue as normal.
  • If your usual office is Naracoorte or Murray Bridge and you currently receive ATO correspondence via paper mail, you will need to contact your usual office after the consolidation is complete to request that we reset your communication preferences with the ATO.
